What is 'voluntary tender' and is it right for you?

If you suffered a work-related injury and are dealing with the workers' compensation process, it's easy to be overwhelmed by all of the rules, terminology and choices. Our attorneys are experienced in dealing with the New Jersey workers' compensation system. We know that the decisions made about workers' comp can impact our clients' financial well-being for a long time -- perhaps for a lifetime.

Some decisions can be irrevocable, so it's essential that workers have all of the necessary information and understand the ramifications of their decisions. We provide guidance to help them determine what will be best for them and their families.

One workers' comp term that many people aren't familiar with is "voluntary tender." These are payments made when the employer's insurance company knows that a worker will qualify for permanent disability payments. Workers who opt for voluntary tender will begin receiving payments that will continue until the 26-week waiting period for permanent disability is over. They will replace any temporary disability payments that a worker is receiving.

At Parisi & Gerlanc Attorneys At Law, we can help our clients determine whether they qualify for voluntary tender and if it is the best option for them. Requests for voluntary tender must be made before any settlement is reached or award is given on a workers' compensation claim. Therefore, the decision about whether to seek voluntary tender needs to be made in a timely manner.
